The Best Non-Alcoholic Red Wine Negroni Recipe

A Negroni is a bittersweet, ruby-red cocktail traditionally served before dinner as an aperitivo. This iconic three-ingredient Italian cocktail has been around for more than a century. Legend has it that in the early 1900s, Count Camillo Negroni requested that a bartender in Florence change up the popular Americano cocktail (made with soda water, Campari and sweet vermouth) by replacing the soda with gin. And just like that, the Negroni was born. Today, a classic Negroni is made with equal parts Campari, gin and sweet vermouth, and is served over ice with an orange peel garnish.

In this contemporary Negroni mocktail recipe, we swap the base spirit of sweet or red vermouth (a fortified wine infused with botanicals) with our McGuigan Zero Pinot Noir Alcohol Free. Its aromas of plum, blackcurrant and spice make it a fantastic vermouth substitute. When mixed with alcohol-free gin and a Campari alternative, the end result is a delicious non-alcoholic Negroni, inspired by the original, that can be enjoyed by everyone - regardless of age or lifestyle choice.
